New Prahran Local, Middletown

There seems to be a new cafe opening every other week, but we haven't seen one quite as beautiful as the Middletown in Prahran who describe themselves as "Prahran's brunchery royale". In fact, the name pays homage to the Royal herself, Kate Middleton.

Moving away from the Scandinavian or industrial aesthetics super common in Melbourne's cafe scene, they've opted for a sophisticated combination of bright white tiles and panneling, navy blue feature walls and bronze detailing. And boy it makes an impact!

In a busy high profile location like High Street, Middletown stands out as a classy spot for your coffee catchup, leisurely brunch or a wholesome lunch. On a corner site, there is ample natural light which makes the space all the more luxurious and somewhere you'd find hard to leave!

The all day menu offers quirky takes on brunch staples, giving you the opportunity to try something new while still offering some comfort. The simply named, Avocado, does just that! So much more than smashed avo, with flavour profiles you'd be familiar with. The avocado sits on top of house made cornbread with smoked beetroot, pomegranate, a poached egg and goats cheese mousse, a super sophisticated breakfast creation.

For those looking for something a bit greener, their Grilled Broccolini pairs the delicate veg with asparagus, potatoes, green beans, egg, hazelnut and pear. A wholesome and tasty brekky that'll win over any health foodie!

Priding themselves on showcasing seasonal produce, their all day lunch menu offers a substantial and innovative take on meat and veg. Their steamed barramundi with pickled brussel sprouts, broad beans, fennel and lemon vinaigrette or their duck leg with potato fondant, celeriac remoulade, watercress and cherry jus are meals fit for a king!

If you're looking for a brekky spot that little bit special, this is it!
