Luxury wellness is fast becoming the hottest trend in the health and fitness scene! There are new yoga studios and gyms popping up all over promoting a premium offering including a stunning fit out, quality teachers/trainers and all the extras. Raw Studios is the latest studio to open in the heart of Melbourne offering all the above and so much more!

They seamlessly integrate yoga and training, a concept derived from extensive research of the LA fitness scene, creating a holistic wellness offering. The name r.a.w or Ready And Willing has been built on the mantra of "body mind happy" for the purpose of bringing a group of likeminded members together to focus, adapt and understand their body's capabilities and needs. They have brought the best functional fitness, power yoga and barre instructors to Melbourne to give you the best full body conditioning experience.

Founder Sam Nivas' vision for r.a.w studios had been in his head for a long time until he finally found the perfect spot, a retail space in the basement below little Collins and Russell Street. While development is not foreign to Sam due to his extensive experience working on multi-million dollar Hotel and Nightclub projects for some of the biggest brands in the business, this is his first project in the wellness scene. He wanted to do something pretty special and unlike anything else you can already experience in Melbourne. “Every detail has been carefully considered so that members feel at peace in the midst of r.a.w. studios urban setting," said Sam. "We’ve even developed a signature scent, creating an additional sensory layer to the experience and overall feeling of tranquility.”

The studio's modern design is perfectly summarised as industrial luxe as they pair premium finishes like marble and natural oak timber flooring with original elements like exposed columns and concrete walls. No expense has been spared on the development of this space to offer the very best, including a lounge space for relaxation before or after class, premium bathroom amenities as well as backlit screens and a nightclub quality sound system to create a sensual mood.

Offering a variety of classes including yoga, meditation, barre, functional movement and mobility training, TRX and rings, boxing and martial arts, they've got something to suit everyone's exercise style and experience. But the main aim for r.a.w is to get you trying something new. Whether that be a yogi trying boxing or a cardio lover giving yoga go as these two sides of fitness shouldn't work mutually exclusively.

"You'll never plateau here," said Studio Director Sunshine Zerda who was brought over from a studio in LA for her passionate and upbeat service style. As a junior olympic gymnast turned martial arts guru, Sunshine understands the importance of incorporating yoga elements into her weekly routine to avoid injury and ultimately perform better. It wasn't until she was injured with an 8 month rehabilitation period that she discovered yoga and has never looked back since. It's now her mission to help people who think yoga might be boring or not for them, to give it a go and with classes like Yoga Sculpt, a unique class combining yoga and cardio elements.

This exciting studio is bringing some really cool stuff to Melbourne's wellness scene, but there's still so much to come including an organic kitchen which will bring the farm to the studio with a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu allowing members to order nutritional meals after class. They will also be launching a series of educational workshops and movie nights to allow their community to learn and come together. Watch this space!
